About WebOfCharity

This is my son, Andrew Swenson, at the age of 5.

My name is John Swenson. This site was created after Andrew was diagnosed with Leukemia. From age 2-5 Andrew had undergone extensive chemotherapy treatments. He was responding well to the treatments and was considered in remission (cancer free). Andrew had reached the point that he no longer needed the medication and his cancer appeared to be flushed from his system.

After 4 short months of freedom for doctors, long hospital stays, toxic medications and blood transfusions, the doctors found multiple tumors growing in both of Andrew's testicles. Upon further testing, they informed us that his Leukemia was back in the bone marrow and growing rapidly.

At this stage, Andrew's only chance of survival is a vital bone marrow transplant. After searching a national registry of millions of bone marrow donors, only 2 people were located as an exact match for Andrew. Unfortunately, they were disqualified as donors for other reasons.

No one is the family is a qualified match to help him out.

Statistics indicate that there is only a 10% chance that a perfectly matched donor will be found for any patient. If you would like to help children with this disease, please contact your local hospital for an appointment to be screened as a potential bone marrow donor. Screening simply involves a blood draw and a few minutes of your time. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Your willingness to help could save a life.

At WebOfCharity our main focus is give the public a free method to donate to charity. Of all the terrible things that modern science has been able to cure, treat, or reduce suffering, cancer is one disease that is still not completely under control. It became apparent to me that cancer is a widespread problem in the world today. One day I sat down and thought about all the people in my immediate family and friend group who had various kinds of Cancer and this was the result:

Son, 2 yrs old: Leukemia
Grandfather: Lymphoma and Skin Cancer
Family Friend: Breast Cancer
Family Friend: Prostate Cancer
Grandfather: Cancer of the Liver
Neighbors x 2: Prostate Cancer

Some day it may affect you or I!

I am just one person in this world and I'm surrounded by so many people that suffer from one of the many forms of this illness. The only way to get a handle on this situation is to raise funding for the intelligent scientists of the world so we can better detect, treat, and hopefully cure cancer in the future.

How can you help?
